2019 Completed

IBI Group was commissioned by NECE to design and install a Closed Toll Collection System in Bengaluru, India. It consists of eight toll plazas (three mainline and five ramp plazas) with a total of 102 lanes (65 entry lanes & 37 exit lanes). There will be an additional 38 lanes, which will bring the total to 140 lanes.

The scope of work for this turnkey project included:

  • design;
  • procurement;
  • supply of equipment;
  • installation, integration and commissioning; and
  • software support of the system.

The toll system will support cash, credit/debit cards, local ETC, and Fastag (the national ETC program of the National Highway Authority of India). All lanes are hybrid ETC and support all methods of payment. The project also features IBI’s unique toll dashboard for data analytics and Management of Information Systems (MIS). Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is deployed in all lanes, allowing for vehicle processing at the lane level with greater than 90 per cent accuracy.

Despite being a brownfield project, the IBI team completed the project in a record six months.
